Traditional Chaihana (Tea House & Event Space)
This project reinterprets the traditional Middle Eastern chaihana as a flexible hospitality venue that can adapt to a variety of social gatherings while preserving its cultural character. Inspired by the rich architectural traditions of the region, the design incorporates natural wood, decorative details, patterned textiles, and warm lighting to create an inviting and authentic atmosphere.
A defining feature of the design is the flexible seating system. A continuous wooden ceiling framework supports retractable fabric curtains, allowing the interior to be easily reconfigured. The curtains create intimate, semi-private dining areas for small groups while maintaining visual continuity throughout the space. When opened, the movable seating and tables transform the interior into a larger open venue capable of accommodating weddings, celebrations, and community events.
The project balances traditional Middle Eastern aesthetics with modern functionality, creating a space that is both culturally expressive and highly adaptable to the changing needs of hospitality and event programming.
